The following off-season clinic opportunities are listed in order by date, with the soonest clinic appearing first. Please be sure to view the entire page to see all of the opportunities available.

Hitting with Nicole (January 24)

We're excited to have Nicole bring her hitting expertise to support our program this year with some small group sessions for an hour each. She'll review the fundamentals of hitting and even go over some drills that players can replicate at home.

THIS SESSION IS FULL.

Ages

Current 3rd-8th graders, but we'll have groups of 5 players for each time slot on January 24:

  • 1-2 pm
  • 2-3 pm
  • 3-4 pm

Pitching with Rick

We're so glad to have Rick back again this year to provide 3 sessions of pitching instruction for our 3rd-6th grade players. This is his third year supporting our program by helping us provide a local, affordable option for pitchers who are just getting started or in their first few years of the position.

Ages

We'll have two sessions on three separate dates. Please sign up for the time that works best for you and plan to attend all three dates:

  • 6-7 pm
  • 7-8 pm

Rick Monson, who currently serves as the head coach of the Monticello/New Glarus High School softball team and has experience as a pitching coach for Verona High School and Edgewood.

Catching

This clinic is for those who already specialize at the catching position on the field, or who have played the catching position and want to learn more. General skills needed to be a catcher at the U12 or U14 levels will be covered, including stance, blocking, and throwing down to second base to get a runner out when they are trying to steal a base.

Sliding & Base Running

This clinic will cover both sliding and basic base running. We will also cover tagging up for fly balls.

Note: Some of our younger players may not need to slide at their current level of play, but the sooner they learn this skill the easier it will be to master it for games.

  • 3rd-5th graders (1-2 pm)
  • 6th-8th graders (2-3 pm)

  • Sneakers for running in the gym
  • Wear softball pants, leggings or joggers (cover your legs)

Hitting with 608 Skills Academy (April 12)

608 Skills Academy is returning this year to hold some small group sessions for an hour each. They'll review the fundamentals of hitting and include stations to review drills to improve your hitting form to regularly find success.

Ages

We'll have two groups for this session:

  • 3rd-5th graders (3:30-4:30 pm)
  • 6th-8th graders (4:45-5:45 pm)

Cost

$25 per player

Long Throws, Cutoffs and Tagging Runners

This clinic will discuss throwing mechanics for long throws. We will also cover how to handle cutoffs during game scenarios as well as tagging runners correctly where there is a play at the base.

  • 3rd-5th graders (1-2 pm)
  • 6th-8th graders (2-3 pm)

For the Off-Season 2026, the Wisconsin Heights Youth Softball program is offering some skill- and position-specific opportunities to prepare our players for success during the Summer 2026 season.

Pitching Open Gyms 2026

We have 6 open gym opportunities for pitchers from March 22 through May 3, 2026.

Pitchers should bring their own catcher.

Gym space, indoor balls and home plates will be provided. No instruction will be provided by the program.
